Nelly Korda and other LPGA Tour players reflected on the qualities they are expecting from the next commissioner of the circuit. Following the season-ending CME Tour Group Championship, the LPGA Tour players are finally back on the green this week to play in a mixed-field event featuring LPGA Tour and PGA Tour players, the Grant Thornton Invitational.

Korda will also tee off this week, and as she prepares to play, the World No. 1 was asked about the qualities she has been expecting from the next LPGA Tour commissioner. Korda said, via Golf Week:

"I would have to think about it. Obviously, someone that has had a lot of experience in this field. And someone that knows how to talk to people the right way to get attention and more investment into the game of golf."

Lydia Ko also reflected on her opinion of the qualities she has been looking for in the commissioner. She said, via Golf Week:

"I think not only golf, but women's sport is in such a good spot that I feel like we don't need a lot of push, it's kind of trending on its own. So somebody that just really understands the complexities of it. And, I mean, I've never been the commissioner so I can't speak entirely for one, but it seems like almost an impossible job really."

Notably, earlier this year, the current LPGA Tour commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan announced her resignation from the position. She will work until January 9, 2025.

"I am proud of the unprecedented growth"- LPGA Tour commissioner Mollie Marcoux on her resignation

While announcing her resignation earlier this month, Mollie Marcoux was thankful for her time with the circuit. She said, via LPGA Tour:

"I am proud of the unprecedented growth the LPGA has enjoyed since I began my tenure. The strategy we have built for growth and impact along with the infrastructure we have added to capitalize on the tremendous opportunity ahead will serve the LPGA well in the coming decades.
"With the LPGA positioned for continued growth, it’s time for me to have more time to cheer on our three amazing children as they live their dreams while I continue to pursue my passion for building leaders, uniting communities and creating value through sports, particularly women’s sports," she added.

Marcoux holds extensive experience in the sports industry. She worked with Princeton University as the athletic director from 2014 to 2021 and then joined the LPGA Tour as commissioner in 2021.

Meanwhile, this week LPGA Tour players will be joining PGA Tour players at the Grant Thornton Invitational. The mixed-field event will start with its first round on Friday, December 13, and will take place over three days, concluding with its finale on Sunday, December 15.
