The peek into the film quickly gained traction on social media with over 2.5 million views in less than 12 hours. Sandler captioned the post:

Netflix announced the release of the sequel this May. The much-anticipated movie is expected to launch on the platform sometime in 2025. The trailer began with Gilmore in his classic ice hockey jersey smashing a drive in his signature style. While most of the plot remains a mystery, fans are excited for the release to see what his story looks like nearly 30 years after its first release.

The clip featured Virginia Venit, who is played by Modern Family star Julie Bowen, kissing Gilmore while saying that they've "only just begun." Christoper McDonald's iconic Shooter McGavin was also featured in the trailer.

Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the script is written by Sandler himself along with Tim Herlihy. Robert Simonds and Jack Giarraputo join the two writers as producers. According to reports, the filming of Happy Gilmore 2 began on September 9 this year in New Jersey and concluded on December 10.
