Netflix's Full Swing Season 2 viewership down significantly from the first season: Reports

Netflix's golf docuseries 'Full Swing' has seen a fall in the Season 2 viewership compared to the first season. The sequel of the series premiered on March 6, 2024.

As per Sports Business Journal, the second season of Full Swing received 4.8 million views and 28.5 million hours of watch time from January to June. In comparison, the first season garnered 53.1 million hours from January to June in 2023. For perspective, the first season was released on February 15 last year. This is a steep fall of more than 45% in watch time.

The first and second seasons of Full Swing have eight episodes each. The documentary takes viewers into golfers' lives on and off the course. The first season showed the friendship between Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka's challenges, Ian Poulter's LIV membership, and Joel Dahmen's imposter syndrome.

It also showed the rivalry between Dustin Johnson and Matt Fitzpatrick, how Tony Finau and Collin Morikawa approach major tournaments, the pursuit of Sahith Theegala and Mito Pereira's first win, and Rory McIlroy's advocacy for PGA Tour reforms.

The last three episodes show the fierce competition in the 2023 Ryder Cup and how Team Europe won in Europe.

Netflix announces third season of golf docuseries 'Full Swing'

Despite the falling viewership, Netflix recently confirmed the documentary's third season. Two weeks ago, Netflix's official X account posted:

"FORE! Full Swing Season 3 is coming in 2025."

This is in contrast to the approach adopted by the streaming platform for The Netflix Cup, a Netflix Special with Formula 1 drivers and PGA Tour golfers competing in a sports competition in Las Vegas. It featured players like Rickie Fowler, Carlos Sainz, and Justin Thomas.

The show could garner only 700,000 views and a watch time of 1.7 million hours from July to December 2023. Netflix refused to bring another season of the show because of less viewership.

The official release date of the third season of Full Swing hasn't been announced by Netflix. It is expected to premiere in 2024.
