Justin Thomas just became a father at the very end of last year. Shortly after his appearance in the ZOZO Championship, the star golfer and his wife welcomed their first child, a daughter, into the world together. The evolution of his family brings about an exciting opportunity that the golfer addressed recently.

Thomas can't wait to finish a victorious golf tournament and celebrate with his family. He has done that with his wife in the past, but it's a little different now that there's a small child involved.

Thomas said:

"You guys watch it all the time... guys winning tournaments and greeting their family and their little ones on 18 green and I'm pretty excited for that opportunity one day."

Scottie Scheffler experienced this last year. His wife gave birth to their first child midway through a historic season for Scheffler, and several trophies were celebrated with his wife and child. Thomas is looking forward to the chance to do the same.

It has, however, been a while since Thomas has won on the PGA Tour. The last time he won was the 2022 PGA Championship. He has come close but hasn't yet emerged victorious since that day.

He's shooting well early on at the American Express in his latest bid to win after such a long hiatus which saw the birth of his daughter, but he's still trailing Justin Lower by five strokes partway through the second round.

Thomas spoke at length about his daughter before she was born, noting how excited he was and how proud he was of his wife.

When Justin Thomas was not upset by the Presidents Cup snub

Justin Thomas was left off the eventually victorious Team USA for the Presidents Cup last fall. He has been a stalwart of American teams in tournaments like this and the Ryder Cup, but he wasn't included last time.

It was a disappointment, but it gave him the chance to focus on his then-pregnant wife and prepare for the soon-coming birth of his daughter Molly, a life event he announced right after reacting to his snub. He said:

"I’m obviously very bummed to not be joining the boys in Canada for the Presidents Cup."

He said he completely understood that Jim Furyk had a wealth of options for the American team and that not everyone could make it. Justin Thomas also noted that he'd be rooting for them anyway before adding:

"It will be nice to have some time to work on things, foundation event, some R&R, and even become a dad at the end of November! While I’m excited for the 'off season', I’m already looking forward to practicing and getting ready for Maui. Thanks to everybody for countless support and kind words as I always appreciate it. That’s enough of me getting in my feels for today." [via Golf Digest]

Molly was born November 18, just a couple of months after the Presidents Cup and a month and a half before the 2025 season kicked into gear for Thomas and the rest of the PGA Tour.
