Amanda Balionis shares emotional message celebrating Aaron Rai's first PGA Tour win
Earlier this month, Amanda Balionis celebrated Aaron Rai's incredible first PGA Tour victory. The English golfer secured a two-stroke win over Max Greyserman at the 2024 Wyndham Championship to win his maiden event on the circuit.
The tournament was heavily impacted by weather delays, resulting in a Monday finish after Matt Kuchar decided to play the final hole of the fourth round on Monday, August 12. However, Aaron Rai was already declared the winner on Sunday, August 11.
Writing about Aaron Rai's victory, Amanda Balionis praised the Englishman for his patience over the years. Rai started playing professionally in 2012 and it took him years to win his first PGA Tour event.
"Aaron Rai rounds out the list of incredible champions that have graced our weekends on @golfoncbs this season! The Englishman had come excruciatingly close so many times over the years and to watch him come out on top on a week like this was fitting. Nothing about this week was easy.
"It was a true test of patience, execution and grit and Rai showcased all three of those qualities in spades down to the final hole. I watched as Billy Horschel and his caddie, Micah, had a really special moment with Rai’s caddie, Jason, as they congratulated him on the win. Jason was emotional and told me that it’s been a six year journey with his guy to get to this point and it was undoubtedly worth the wait," Balionis wrote.
Notably, the 2024 PGA Tour season is nearing its conclusion. The regular tournaments wrapped up with the Wyndham Championship, leaving only the remaining FedEx Cup playoffs. The first leg of the FedEx Cup, the St. Jude Championship, concluded on Sunday, August 18, and golfers will compete at the BMW Championship this week.
