President-elect Donald Trump is caught up in controversy after a new report claims there were no witnesses to Trump's victory at a senior golf event. This is not the first time such a story has circulated. In 2023, the former President claimed to have won a club championship at his course in Florida despite not playing the first round.

Shark Tank host and prominent businessman Kevin O'Leary shared on social media that the incoming president shot 68 over the weekend and was four shots below par and on top of the leaderboard.

At about the same time, a photo of the leaderboard surfaced online, with 11 contestants in the Senior Club Championship all being below Trump after the final stroke.

Despite all this, the Palm Beach Post is reporting that this win might've been fabricated. No one saw Trump play, according to the report, and it's reported that Trump was not "known to have played in the tournament until his name was spotted atop of the leaderboard."

The appearance of Trump's name on the leaderboard surprised tournament attendees and followers. Trump himself didn't say anything about his round, and it's worth noting that he's posted or spoken about his golf successes often.

The report from the Palm Beach Post also noted that Trump boasted a 67 in New Jersey at his golf club when only six LIV Golf professionals reached that low mark in their tournament at the very same venue.

Right before he got elected to be the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump made a bold claim about the LIV Golf x PGA Tour merger. If he decides to get involved following his upcoming inauguration, the president-elect believes he could make a difference.

He said via GolfWRX:

“I think it’ll come together. Yeah, I could certainly help, but I could probably get it done. I would say it would take me the better part of 15 minutes to get that deal done.”

Whatever the future holds, Trump's ideal scenario involves one tour for everyone to play against each other. Stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler would be able to compete against each other regularly in such a case.

“But I do think we should have one tour, and they should have the best players in that tour – meaning you have many tours, but your primary tour… Because when Scottie wins or when they win on the other tour, we have a lot of… there’s a lot of great players. I mean, beyond great. It’s really top, top players on LIV," he added.

Additionally, as per The Guardian, Rory McIlroy expressed hope that Donald Trump's election would spark a conclusion to the merger that has been ongoing since the summer of 2023.
