“Nothing even close on the European tour” – Matthieu Pavon details the differences in experience of playing in the US versus in Europe

Matthieu Pavon of France shared his thoughts on the difference in experience of playing in the United States and Europe. Pavon is currently competing at the 124th US Open at Pinehurst No. 2 Golf Course in North Carolina

He is tied at T2 with Rory Mcllroy and Patrick Cantlay with an aggregate score of 4-under 206. The trio are three shots behind Bryson DeChambeau who is at the top of the leaderboard with 7-under 203.

Pavon carded rounds of 67, 70 and 69 in the first three rounds. After the third round at the US Open 2024, Pavon shared his experience of competing on the two prestigious circuits. He said (via Ten Golf):

"It's so much different. I mean the golf course here feels like - playing the signature so far it feels like we play Majors every week. Since we started the Florida swing we had Bay Hill, was one of the toughest golf course I ever played."

"Then you go to Sawgrass - like not the toughest but you have to be ready and have your game in the right state to make sure you can compete at that level. And then you go to Quail Hollow and Memorial, those golf courses, there is nothing even close on the European tour. Like nothing which comes even close." [04:50]

Pavon further said that the playing conditions in the US are quite different from what he has seen in Europe. He said that he usually struggles to reach the green or chip towards the pin after hitting the ball into the rough in the US. He has adjusted to the challenge by aiming to hit 10 yards away and attempting to make a five over the last few weeks.

Matthieu Pavon will tee off with Bryson DeChambeau at 2:21 p.m. ET in the final round of the 2024 US Open on Sunday, 16 June..
