Spanish golfer Eugenio Chacarra hopes to pursue a PGA Tour membership after failing to secure his position on LIV Golf for the next season. The 24-year-old finished 39th in LIV Golf's season standings in 2024. However, he was not retained by the team for the 2025 season.
In a recent interview with Flushing It, Chacarra slammed the Saudi league while also sharing his future plans. The Spaniard expressed his desire to play on the PGA Tour and said (via SB Nation):
"I see what it’s like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes. How you get major access and ranking points. On LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn’t matter if you finish thirtieth or first, only money. "
However, to be eligible to play on the PGA Tour, Chacarra needs to serve a one-year suspension from his last LIV Golf outing. Nonetheless, he has been trying to secure a position on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
"After I entered second stage of Q School they said you can’t play, you’re banned until a year after you played on the LIV Golf Tour. I have a couple of calls this week, with a couple of guys on the PGA Tour and see what the deal is. Where I can play. I’m not even sure if I can play International Series or not. So I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing to get myself on to the Korn Ferry or PGA Tour as soon as possible," he added.
Eugenio Chacarra started his professional career with LIV Golf in 2022. He was impressive in the first season and settled in 16th position in the season standings. In the second edition, he settled in 32nd place, followed by a 39th finish in the third season.
Eugenio Chacarra slams LIV Golf
Chacarra slammed LIV Golf for not fully fulfilling their promises. He told Flushing It about the promises the Saudi league reportedly made but did not keep. The Spanish golfer said (via Flushing It):
"When I joined LIV they promised OWGR and majors. But it didn’t happen. I trusted them. I was the first young guy, then the others came after I made the decision. But OWGR and majors still hasn’t happened. I saw you last year when they pulled the bid. It’s frustrating, but I’m excited for the new opportunity and to see where my game takes me.”
Eugenio Chacarra has won two professional tournaments in his career. His maiden win came at the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok, where he played three rounds of 65, 63, and 69 and registered a three-shot win over Patrick Reed.
His next win came at the St Andrews Bay Championship, where he defeated Matt Jones in a playoff.
