Professional golfer John Daly has expressed solidarity with and prayers for former U.S. President Donald Trump after an assassination attempt during a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday, 13 July. Trump was injured in the incident and had to be rushed offstage.

Soon after the incident, John Daly took to X and posted:

"President Trump is one of the toughest men I know! God bless him and his family right now. Also, sending out prayers to the fallen attendees!"

The 58-year-old American golfer and two-time Major champion further called for action and wrote:

"This is devastating—our revenge coming in November at the polls! #fightfightfight #maga #myleader #vote #SAVEAMERICA"

A 20-year-old named Thomas Matthew Crooks has been identified by the F.B.I. as a suspect in the assassination attempt. Another person in the audience was killed during the incident. Crooks was neutralized soon after by the Secret Service. Trump was rushed to the hospital as he was seen bleeding from the ear. He later stated that he was "fine".

This is not the first time that Daly has voiced support for Trump. In an interview with Tucker Carlson in December 2023, the golfer was asked if he thought Trump would win the presidential election. Daly said (via Tucker Carlson Network):

"He needs to win. I pray to God he wins. Just for the satisfaction of bringing our country back together, get some common sense going in here again, and, you know, look what he did. (1:00-1:08)

Daly further appreciated Trump's presidency tenure from 2016 to 2020 and said:

The four years, how great was our country in the four years he was in office? And now look at it. No secure borders... I mean, what the hell happened?" (1:08-1:15)

In the interview with Carlson, Daly had expressed his dismay over the changes that he had observed in the country since Joe Biden's presidency commenced. In response to a question from Carlson, he added that he had seen the decline coming when Biden was elected.

LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau also wished Trump a speedy recovery after the assassination attempt via a post on X.
