Owen Wilson wraps up shooting the first season of Apple TV+’s much-anticipated golf comedy

Owen Wilson has wrapped up the season finale of his much-anticipated golf comedy on Apple TV+. The finale was recently shot at Pitt Meadows Golf Club near Vancouver, Canada.

The Apple TV+ series, titled Rambler & the Birdie Machine, tells the story of a washed-up golfer named Pryce Cahill (Owen Wilson), whose career ended 20 years ago. After being fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, his wife leaves him. Following these events, he decides to bet on a troubled 17-year-old golf prodigy.

The series features Timothy Olyphant, Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, and Judy Greer. The first season will consist of 10 episodes, with the release date yet to be announced.

The Rambler & the Birdie Machine isn't the only golf-based show or movie coming this year. The sequel to the hit sports comedy movie Happy Gilmore is also set to release this year.

The first installment of the movie featured Adam Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, Frances Bay, and Carl Weathers. Most of the original cast will reprise their roles in the sequel.

Additionally, popular professional golfers like Keegan Bradley, John Daly, Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, and Lee Trevino will make special appearances in Happy Gilmore 2.

Has Owen Wilson ever played golf pro-am?

While Owen Wilson hasn't participated in any of the Pro-Ams on the PGA Tour, he is a huge fan of the sport. Last year, he was spotted enjoying the 2024 Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua Plantation Course in Hawaii. He also met names like Max Homa, Rickie Fowler, and Ludvig Åberg.

Homa had a brief interaction with the popular actor, and a clip of the conversation was posted by the PGA Tour on social media.

On the professional front, Owen Wilson was last seen in the horror comedy Haunted Mansion.
