Golf social media personality Paige Spiranac praised Xander Schauffele on his victory at The Open Championship 2024, where the American golfer lifted the Claret Jug after securing a two-stroke victory over Billy Horschel and Justin Rose. Schauffele shot a 65 in the final round to win the Major.
Earlier this year, Schauffele won the PGA Championship, making the Open his second Major win of the season. With this victory, he became the 16th player in the history of the game to win two Majors, including the British Open, in a season. Schauffele's performance was remarkable, given the challenging greens of Royal Troon where only 8 others had under-par scores for the final day.
Following the American's victory, Spiranac praised the golfer on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:
"Congratulations to Xander! 2 majors in one season is special! 4 great, entertaining majors this year!"
Spiranac is quite an involved personality on social media when it comes to golf. She had earlier praised Bryson DeChambeau when he won the 2024 US Open last month, tweeting:
"Wow what an incredible US Open! Congratulations to Bryson Dechambeau! Such amazing golf, drama and entertainment! This is what golf needs[.]"
Spiranac has around 1 million followers on her X account. She is known for sharing her golf-related videos on the internet and has recently moved to a new paid subscription platform where she shares golf content. Previously, Spiranac had started her own website called OnlyPaige, but has now moved all her content to the new platform.
LIV golfer Phil Mickelson applauds Xander Schauffele’s 'incredible' victory at The Open Championship
LIV golfer Phil Mickelson congratulated Xander Schauffele for winning the second major of his career. The six-time major winner called Schauffele's final-round performance 'incredible" on social media, noting the challenging nature of the course.
Mickelson also sent his best wishes to Schauffele for the Paris Olympics, where the latter will be representing the USA. The 30-year-old previously won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
"What an incredible performance by @XSchauffele. A final round 65 with -4 on the difficult back 9 to win The Open and become CGOTY is simply amazing. Congratulations, what a year, keep it up in Paris too!" Mickelson wrote.
Schauffele shot a bogey-free final round at The Open. He carded two birdies on the front nine and four on the back to score -6. He then scored -4 on the difficult back nine, winning the major by 2 strokes from Justin Rose and Billy Horschel.
Schauffele's close friend and fellow PGA Tour player Patrick Cantlay also congratulated the American golfer on social media. He tweeted:
"Another @TheOpen in the books. Congrats @XSchauffele on your second major. Great run."
Both Cantlay and Mickelson played at The Open Championship. Mickelson finished in a tie for 60th place, while Cantlay finished in a tie for 25th place.
