Bryson DeChambeau has spent a lot of time sharing his knowledge of professional golf. His YouTube channel, which has more than 1.66 million subscribers, is full of advice for players of all skill levels.
Even during one of the highlights of his career, the final round of the LIV Golf Greenbrier 2023 (when he shot a 58), DeChambeau took a moment to give advice to junior players. He advised junior players to work on their winning mentality. Here is part of what he said (via ASAP Sports):
"For any Junior golfers out there it's probably the best thing you could do when trying to learn how to score, you go up to the red tees and try and shoot sub 60 rounds, you know, for a good aspiring... junior golfer, that's trying to be a professional golfer, you just go to the front tees, try and shoot under 60." He added:
"If you can do that, and you consistently are able to do that, every single round you play, get in that comfortable mind of 'okay I'm 10, 11, 12 under, let's keep going, pedal to the metal', that gets you in a great mindset."
"I'm telling you, that tremendously helped today, being able to say 'okay I'm 10 under, well, I can't stop, I got to keep going, I got to birdie the 17th, I got to birdie, 18, let's go', and having that sort of... I'm not really going to say in front of the media... like... sort of 'F-you' mentality. I mean just let's go, let's get it done, it is something that led me shooting 58 today."
Bryson DeChambeau started his professional career in 2016. He has won 13 tournaments, including nine on the PGA Tour (two majors). He also has two individual victories in LIV Golf, including the Greenbrier event in 2023.
Recalling Bryson DeChambeau's 58 at the LIV Golf Greenbrier
Bryson DeChambeau's performance during the third round of the 2023 LIV Golf Greenbrier was the first sub-60 score in the history of the circuit. Most notably, the round included one bogey (13 birdies).
DeChambeau birdied seven holes on the front nine and another six on the back nine. His only bogey came on the 8th and he birdied the final four holes to put the impressive 58 on the scoreboard.
It was also notable that DeChambeau's score came after a bogey-free round of 61 the day before. The American won the tournament on 23-under, six strokes ahead of Mito Pereira.
DeChambeau's score ties as the second-best on any professional tour at any level and ties as the best on the world's major tours. Other players with similar scores include Ryo Ishikawa, Jim Furyk, and S. H. Kim.
