On Wednesday, January 8, The PGA Tour announced the launch of the Creator Series, a series of tournaments featuring social media content creators. The series will be launched in partnership with Pro Shop Studios.
The news was announced on the PGA Tour's official X (formerly Twitter) account with a post that highlighted the success of the 2024 Creator Classic as the starting point for the creation of this new series:
"More than 20 creators. 3 live events. Following the success of the 2024 Creator Classic, PGA TOUR and Pro Shop Studios are continuing a creator series that will take place across three TOUR events in 2025."
According to the press release on the PGA Tour's official website, the Creator Series will feature three events that will be held in conjunction with major tournaments. These events will be held at the same venues where the stars of the circuit will compete:
- THE PLAYERS Championship, PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass: Wednesday, March 12
- Truist Championship, Wissahickon Course at The Philadelphia Cricket Club: Wednesday, May 7
- TOUR Championship, East Lake Golf Club: Wednesday, Aug. 20
Over 20 social media golf content creators are expected to participate. However, no further details have been released as to what prizes the winners will receive or whether there will be a final series champion.
The PGA Tour has recently promoted an outreach to content creators. Following the Creator Classic, it announced the formation of the Creator Council, an advisory group consisting of Paige Spiranac, Bob Does Sports, Bryan Bros. Golf, Erik Anders Lang, Fore Play/Barstool Sports, No Laying Up, Roger Steele, and Tisha Alyn.
Pro Shop Studios is an audiovisual production company that previously worked with the PGA Tour to produce the Full Swing series for Netflix.
