PGA Tour pro Michael Kim shares the number of ways players get fined on Tour

PGA Tour Pro Michael Kim recently shared a number of ways that could lead to a heavy fine by the Tour. He also revealed that several players on the Korn Ferry Tour were handed fines for peeing on a tree.

In recent times, Michael Kim has become one of the best golf social media follows. He enjoys over 119K followers on X, where he often shares his insights on the game.

On Friday, June 7, Kim shared interesting details of how fines work on the PGA Tour. He also revealed that most of the fines never got reported to the public due to fear of backlash. He mentioned that once several KFT players got into trouble for relieving themselves on a tree.

"There was a lady that got mad that players were taking a leak on a tree next to her house and couple players got fined for that. (There’s not as many portalets on kft and less people)," he wrote.

In his post, the 30-year-old golfer also shared that the slow play would get one into trouble.

"10 times in a group that gets timed is 50k and every subsequent time is 5k," he wrote. "Next yr, doubled. Many players have gotten fined, no one talks about it because of the potential backlash from the public."

Kim disclosed that one player had set aside the money at the beginning of the season for his slow play fines. The other fines he mentioned included the usage of foul language on TV, damaging sponsored tee markers, not raking bunkers well or replacing divots, and misbehavior with volunteers.

The 2018 John Deere Classic winner also revealed that all the fines collected by the PGA Tour go to the charity.

There have been a few occasions where players were caught peeing during play. Earlier this year, Stephan Jaeger was captured by a drone when he was relieving himself during the Farmers Insurance Open. Speaking of other tours, last year, Sergio Garcia was also caught relieving himself during LIV Golf Tucson.

A few years ago, Jon Rahm was seen taking a loo break at the 2019 PGA Championship while Dustin Johnson was preparing to play his next shot. Although there have been several such incidents, there hasn't been any official confirmation of fines from either the Tour or the players.
