Recently, Kim took to his account to help amateur golfers improve their games. He summed up "some basic concepts" in a thread, which can be helpful for amateur players.

Michael S. Kim first talks about the "Full Swing" and how amateur players can improve it. He suggested they should be more relaxed while taking the full swing and try to use their complete torso to rotate back. He wrote:

"You can go over the top from the top if you have good turn in the backswing. It’s a bit scary to swing with a big turn but it must be done. Many ams set up in a way that makes it harder. You shouldn’t look so robotic. Way more relaxed with ur feet flared a little bit," Kim wrote.

His next suggestion was on the "Pitch Shot." To improve the pitch shot, the PGA Tour golfer advised amateur players to turn a little left and feel closer to the ball. He suggested adjusting the body position for taking the shot, writing:

"Weight a little left, feet a little closer, a little bit closer to the ball, ball position middle to back, hands a little ahead. I see way too often a player setting up like it’s a full shot."

Michael S. Kim shares helpful tips on Chipping, Bunker Shots, and Putting for amateur golfers

Kim also offered tips on "Chipping, bunker shots, and putting" in his post. To improve chipping, the golfer recommended using a putter if the ball is less than 30 yards from the hole or is in the fairway. He advised:

"Use ur putter. If it’s fairway and less than 30 yards to the hole, just use a putter. Putter until you’re forced not to."

Next, Kim opened up about taking the perfect shot in the bunker. For bunker shots, the Korea-born golfer advised amateur players to slightly 'dig in' while keeping the ball a little further before opening the clubface "weight 60/40 left" to take the shot. Emphasizing wrist movement, he wrote:

"Dig in slightly with ur feet, ball a little ahead, open the club face, weight 60/40 left. A little wrist cock on the way back and then undo that wrist cock and the way thru. If you can do it without slicing across it too much, even better."

Kim also offered some tips on putting:

"If you’re serious about getting better on the greens, get something that tells you whether you pushed it or pulled it and get ur set up right."
