Maverick McNealy will make his 138th start this week on the PGA Tour at the 2024 Shriners Children's Open. The tournament will begin on Thursday, 17 October, and conclude on Sunday, 20 October.

McNealy is still searching for his first PGA Tour win. As per CBS Sports, he has decent odds of +4000 to win the tournament. He finished 53rd in the FedExCup standings and is positioned 56th in the FedExCup Fall standings.

In the pre-tournament press conference, the 28-year-old was asked about his thoughts on entering the week ranked 56th in the FedExCup fall standings and the opportunity to gain some additional Signature Event starts in 2025. Maverick McNealy said, via ASAP Sports:

"Yeah, the start of the season is so important. If you get off to a good start and high on the points list it matters so much. Getting the first few Signature Events at AT&T and Genesis would be massive. They're two poa annua events that I play really well at. I've top 10'd at both of them."

McNealy was the runner-up at the 2021 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He lost the tournament by two strokes to Daniel Berger. He tied for fifth in 2020. The PGA Tour player has tied for seventh at the 2022 Genesis Invitational. He further said:

"I think if I do get in those two, I would probably play six out of the first seven tournaments. Again, if you get high on the FedExCup list early it gives you a huge leg up on the rest of the year. That kind of starts here with me playing the next five out of six weeks trying to solidify a spot in the top 60."

In the last two starts, McNealy has had two missed cuts. He'd be hoping to move up the FedExCup fall standings at the Shriners Children's Open.
