PGA Tour rookie Jacob Bridgeman took the early lead at the 2024 3M Open on Thursday (July 25). The 24-year-old birdied five of his last seven holes for an 8-under 63. He took a one-stroke lead over Canada’s Mackenzie Hughes at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

Following his big round, Bridgeman came out to state that competing on the PGA Tour has been ‘really hard.’ He dubbed it a childhood 'dream' come true while admitting that it’s tough to succeed on the circuit. The young golfer indirectly tipped his hat to several golfers from legends like Arnold Palmer to experienced veterans like John Daly by adding that it’s ‘impressive when guys have 400 starts’ on the Tour.

Bridgeman, who’s played 18 PGA Tour events this season so far, admitted that players celebrating achievements like playing over 15 years are justified.

Speaking in a post-round interview with Golf Channel, Jacob Bridgeman said (at 1:46):

“It's been amazing. It's everything that I dreamed of as a little boy. But at the same time, it's really hard. It's not something that you can go out and just play the same game that I did last year and have success and it's something we constantly work on that's why it's so impressive when guys have 400 starts.
"I know there's like celebrations in the club out and stuff. It's very impressive that they continue to get better for 15 plus years. So that was something I learned I have to keep getting better and I'm not at a level that I want to be. So, it's been tough but it's also a lot of fun.”

Jacob Bridgeman PGA Tour season so far

Jacob Bridgeman earned his first PGA Tour card last year by finishing No. 14 on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Points List. This was his first full season on the circuit. The young golfer managed six top-10s, 14 top-25s, and made 20 cuts across 24 starts to find his way to the PGA Tour. However, he’s failed to replicate the success this year.

The rookie has had an inconsistent season so far, with notable finishes including a T14 at the RBC Canadian Open, a T19 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and multiple top-30 finishes. Jacob Bridgeman has so far missed cuts at multiple events, including the Sony Open in Hawaii, the Mexico Open at Vidanta, and the John Deere Classic.
