PGA Tour player Michael S. Kim recently acknowledged golfers' lifestyles have the potential to cause injuries after recent incidents with Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland. Ahead of the season-opening PGA Tour event, the Sentry, Scheffler has withdrawn, while Hovland's participation remains a concern.

Golf Journalist Claire Rogers took to X and lightheartedly advised PGA Tour players to take precautions to be injury-free. Sharing PGA Tour's statement about Scheffler's withdrawal and Hovland's Instagram picture, she wrote:

"If you are a PGA Tour player, do not enter the kitchen or even get out of bed. It’s dangerous out there"

Commenting on the post, S. Kim wrote:

"Understood"

2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year, Scottie Scheffler withdrew from the Sentry after a Christmas Day kitchen accident. As per the PGA Tour statement, the World No.1 suffered a puncture wound to his right-hand palm from a broken glass. In the statement, Schefler's manager Blake Smith said:

"Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express."

The Sentry is scheduled from Thursday, January 2 to Sunday, January 5 at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Maui. His next appearance will be at the American Express which will be held from January 16 to 19.

Meanwhile, Norwegian player Viktor Hovland also injured his toe in a domestic accident. The PGA Tour player shared an X-ray of his injured toe on Instagram and captioned it:

"Bed frame 1-0 me."

While The Sentry had earlier confirmed his participation at the event, the recent mishappening has raised speculations about his presence at the season opener.

PGA Tour Michael Kim shares that strength training in the gym will keep him injury-free

PGA Tour player Michael Kim himself suffered an injury to his back earlier this year and had to withdraw from the ISCO Championship. Recently, he shared insights on The Stack System, a golf speed training system that might help him remain injury-free.

He shared that the training system will help him increase his clubhead speed (CHS). Kim shared that he would aim to raise his CHS to 120s from his below 150 mph at the moment. He further wrote:

"I do think for me personally, continuing my strength work in the gym will be crucial for me to help further my speed but also stay injury free as I progress."

Kim also shared that the Stack System will be "super beneficial" for amateurs as they'll have more room for technical improvement in comparison to professionals like him who have already adjusted their swings to a certain style.

Kim finished 104th in the FedExCup Fall standings in the 2024 season. In 13 starts, he made 17 cuts and 10 top-25 finishes. He registered two top-10 finishes.
