Phil Mickelson has three children. He's an experienced father, as he became one in 1999. The golfer's first child was born exactly one day after he finished runner-up in that year's US Open. Since then, he's accumulated a variety of experiences that have shaped his parenting style.
On Sunday evening, Mickelson shared one "valuable lesson" he believes all parents can take to heart. It was in the form of an Instagram reel which was shared to the golfer's personal story.
The account 'consciouslivingwithhm' shared a video in which a man said:
"Just crying, screaming, 'Daddy, daddy, daddy! So and so said this about me.' I looked at her. Now look, every little girl wants their daddy to say, 'Oh, that's ok, it'll be alright.' I looked at her and said, 'So what?' and she sobered up... I said, 'Was it true?' She said no. I said it doesn't matter then, does it? Then I said, 'If it was true, could you change?' She said yeah."
He continued, saying that it doesn't matter what anyone else calls a person. It only matters what that person says about themselves. He then shared an anecdote of his other daughter taking this lesson to heart and implementing it in a situation a few weeks later.
Of all the things the LIV Golf star has learned in life as a parent, which he's been for almost 26 years, this is one thing he felt he needed to share with his 1.2 million followers.
Phil Mickelson aims to return to "highest level" in 2025
Phil Mickelson continues to get older, but he fairly often puts in performances that harken back to his best days on the PGA Tour. The LIV star is hoping to put it all together in 2025 and have a much stronger year.
Via Mirror, he said:
“I don’t know if that is going to be the case. We are going to see heading into this year, but I am going to really make a push to compete at the highest level. That means fine-tuning all aspects of my game. Including my driving, speed, putting all of that. Getting my short game back to the highest level, so I think I could do something special.”
Phil Mickelson said he and his teammates see glimpses of the sort of player he expects to be, but he's also realistic. He has said that he'll step aside from his team if he believes he can't compete, which he still thinks he certainly can.
Thanks to past performances, Mickelson is in the Major championships for several years. His ultimate goal is, after returning to that high level he mentioned, to win a Major before his career is done.
