Recently, Barstool podcast host Frankie Borrelli played a shot inspired by Phil Mickelson. The veteran golfer gave a thumbs-up to Borrelli's attempt.

Mickelson, who tied for 60th at the Open Championship last week, making his second cut in majors this season, is set to compete at LIV Golf UK, starting on Friday, July 26.

On Tuesday, July 23, Frankie Borrelli shared a video on X, where he played a chip shot reminiscent of Mickelson's style.

The six-time major champion was impressed with the shot as he replied to Borrelli saying:.

"Although I’m surprise, I like it A LOT!," he wrote.

For the uninitiated, Phil Mickelson is considered one of the best chippers ever. His exceptional short-game skills were a key factor in his 45th PGA Tour title win. He is also known for sharing his knowledge with golf enthusiasts and often posts tutorial videos on his social media accounts.

Mickelson will next compete at the LIV Golf UK event and will hope to secure his first title on the Saudi-backed circuit. He is currently ranked 44th in the season standings and has yet to achieve a top-ten finish. His team, HyFlyers GC, is also near the bottom of the standings, with just one top-three finish.

A look at Phil Mickelson's performance at the Open Championship 2024

Phil Mickelson was one of the eighteen LIV golfers who competed at the 2024 Open Championship. Eleven of them made it to the weekend, with Mickelson being one of them.

Mickelson started his week at Royal Troon with a 2-over 73 and made the cut by just one stroke after shooting 74 on Day 2. Over the next two days, he shot 72 and 76, finishing at 11-over after 72 holes.

Mickelson has had a below-average season at the majors this year. He started with a T43 finish at the Masters Tournament but missed the cut at the PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Since winning the 2022 PGA Championship, he has missed seven cuts at the majors and has registered just one top-ten finish.
