Christopher Powers shared a photo of Amanda Balionis and Greg Norman on his official X (previously Twitter) account on December 11, 2024. The writer from Golf Digest regularly shares media that gets attention from golf fans.
In the photo posted by Christopher Powers on X, Balionis was present on the golf course. Her attire in the photo indicates her covering a Master's event. Amanda is sporting a green jacket and a light blue cap with the Master's logo. She's also holding a microphone. Greg Norman is seen on her left and is planting a kiss on her cheek. Powers wrote:
"chat is this real"
This was a repost from a reply made by GolfTwitter. A day ago, Powers had made a post encouraging his followers to post their favorite screenshots from a golf event in 2024. He wrote:
"FOLKS, it's time for a very important task. I need your favorite SCREENSHOT of the year in professional golf. Preferably grainy, off your own TV shots. The raw stuff. NOT legitimate, professional photos. For example, my clear-cut No. 1 in 2024."
The internet erupted after GolfTwitter posted a snap of LIV Golf Chief Greg Norman kissing Amanda Balionis on her cheek. The photo in question is reportedly controversial. Under the retweet made by Christopher Powers on X, fans could not keep themselves away from commenting. Apart from funny memes and comments, the picture recieved some derogatory remarks too.
"If Scottie, would be photoshopped. The Black Knight, maybe.", a user said.
"Lock him up !!!!", someone declared.
"Guy brags about doing a million one handed push ups. It’s real.", another one commented.
Did Amanda Balionis quit playing golf?
Amanda Balionis, CEO and Founder of Puppies and Golf, left the sport prematurely. While talking with GolfDigest.com, the 39-year-old golf journalist explained the sole reason behind this move. Amanda said in the interview:
"I played junior golf for a few years; my parents loved playing with me, but the minute I had to carry my own bag and walk nine holes by myself, I was like, ‘Eh, you know what, I’m gonna go join the swim team.’ It just didn’t have the same allure for me when my dad wasn’t carrying my bag, and I couldn’t drive a cart yet."
According to Amanda Balionis, she had to let go of her golf dream due to other reasons too. Now, organizations like The First Tee and the PGA Junior League support younger players. However, Balionis did not find an organization like that to help her stay focused as a youngster.
Amanda has now connected the worlds of Golf and Animal Rescue. Founded in 2020, Puppies and Golf encourages potential pet parents to adopt dogs. They help in finding forever homes for the puppies who need help.
