Fans on social media have reacted to trans golfer Hailey Davidson complaining about the LPGA's gender policy change. Recently, the women's golf series announced some changes to their gender policy. As per the new policy, players born male who want to play on the circuit must meet two major criteria.
Firstly, the players should not have experienced male puberty in any part of the body after the age of 12 or at Tanner Stage 2. Either one of them is considered, whichever comes first. The second change is that the players should have a testosterone level of 2.5 nmol/L to play with the women golfers.
However, Hailey Davidson, who made headlines earlier this year for earning the Epson card for the 2025 season, was critical of the changes. She shared a post on her Instagram account expressing frustration.
NUCLR Golf shared her opinion on its X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:
"Trans golfer Hailey Davidson responds to this morning’s decision from the LPGA & USGA via Instagram stories: “Can't say I didnt see this coming. Banned from the Epson and LPGA. All the silence and people wanting to stay "neutral" thanks for absolutely nothing….This happened because of all your silence. What a great birthday present for 2024. Having the greatest achievement ive earned in my life taken from me.” Was the move the right call?"
Fans jumped to the comments section to slam Davidson's complaint about the LPGA Tour and suggested she play on the PGA Tour.
"Play on the PGA Tour," a fan wrote.
"Sir you are more than entitled to attempt to earn playing privileges on the .@PGATOUR Good luck. Play well," another fan wrote.
Several other fans shared their opinions about the LPGA Tour's new policy.
"Hailey can still compete against persons who were born with the same physical/sexual makeup. This does not eliminate the possibility for competition. But the #1 reason for every single role in golf is to protect the field. This decision does that," a fan said.
"Men shouldn’t be allowed to participate in women’s sports. Epson and LPGA made the right decision, to protect women from men," another fan jotted.

"Gets outdriven by every player" – Hailey Davidson slams the LPGA Tour gender policy change
Davidson shared several stories on her Instagram account slamming the LPGA Tour for their decision to change the gender policy. In one of her stories, she highlighted how she was outdriven by the women golfers on the field while playing at the LPGA Tour Q Series. She wrote:
"Gets outdriven by every player in every group I played in at stage 2 of Q School yet I’m somehow the one with an advantage and get banned."
Notably, Davidson played in the first stage of the LPGA Tour Q School. However, she struggled with her game and finished in 95th place. Although she did not qualify for the LPGA Tour, she earned the Epson Tour card for the upcoming season.
She had undergone gender-affirming surgery in 2021 and had been on hormone treatments since 2015. However, the new policy will affect her eligibility to play on the circuit
