In the third round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scottie Scheffler is seven strokes behind Hideki Matsuyama. Although he knows the lead is not easy to overcome with just one round left, he still hasn't given up hope.

On Saturday, August 17, Matsuyama fired a 6-under 64 to reach 17-under, holding a five-stroke lead after 54 holes. Scheffler, who was just two shots off the lead after the second round, shot a 69 on Day 3 to sit at 10-under.

During the post-round interview on Saturday, Scottie Scheffler shed light on his final round plan.

"Going into tomorrow, I'll do what I can to put some pressure on Hideki," he said as per PGA Tour. "But if he goes out tomorrow and shoots another 5-, 6-under, he's going to be a pretty tough guy to catch. But I'm definitely not totally out of the tournament."

Although this is the third straight year Scheffler is entering the playoffs as No. 1 in the standings, he hasn't found success in winning even once. Last year, he eventually finished sixth in the FedEx Cup.

This year has been phenomenal for the World No. 1 golfer, as he claimed six titles on the Tour, including the Masters and the Players Championship. Earlier this month, he became the Olympic gold medalist in Paris. Another win would make him the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win seven times in a single season.
