During the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Gareth Bale encountered an unusual obstruction on the golf course. As he chipped the ball closer to the hole, a little puppy ran onto the course and stole his ball, resulting in a bit of a lighthearted moment at the golf course.

Bale is in St. Andrews for the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and is teamed up alongside professional golfer Dan Brown. On Friday, October 4, the former Wales soccer team captain chipped the ball from just outside the green toward the pin. The ball stopped just a few inches away from the hole, but before he could putt it in, a little dog ran towards it and stole the ball away.

The DP World Tour shared a video of the hilarious incident on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans on the internet loved this moment and had interesting takes on the incident. Some fans also called for not allowing dogs at the events. Here's a look at some reactions:

"Replace or replay...?" one fan asked.
"Play it as it lies 'happy gilmore' had to," another fan wrote.
"Another irresponsible dog owner. Control your dog, put it on a lead. It should not be at a golf tournament in any case," this fan commented.
"😂 you can hear the owners clearly mortified their good boy having fun. Love puppies on the courses," this user remarked.
"Dp world tour things," one fan wrote.
"Started a new trend in signs...Gareth Bale, can I have your ball please? 🤣🤣🤣," another fan posted.
