Rickie Fowler will be playing at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship, which is taking place at the Country Club of Jackson from October 3 to 6. He will be making his first appearance in a PGA Tour tournament since the Open Championship held in July.
In a press conference ahead of the Championship, Fowler was asked about his interest in cooking. In response, he commented on his role as a chef at home and talked about how he made good briskets with his family and tried experimental dishes with staples. Fowler said (via ASAP Sports):
“Luckily I can kind of do a little bit of everything. I did a few good briskets. Those are always fun because it's a bit more of a time commitment, starting them anywhere from 10:00 at night to midnight. So those are always fun. We usually had some more people over. Nothing too big, five or six people,” Rickie Fowler said.
"But that's fun because it's a bit more of a meal you can share and have fun with other people. It wasn't just the brisket. Allison would put in and do some stuff, but we'd have sausage to corn bread to sole slaw…There's definitely some good recipes that we'll go by and staples, and they're safe,” he added.
Fowler is included in the field of 132 golfers, including defending champion Luke List, Brandon Wu, Beau Hossler, and others. The prize purse for the Sanderson Farms 2024 amounts to $7.6 million, with the winner receiving $1,368,000.
Rickie Fowler reflected on his role as a dad at home
Currently miles away from his family for the second FedEx fall season event in Mississippi, Rickie Fowler was asked about his role as a father.
In response, the 35-year-old shared how he liked the routine life at home and enjoyed accompanying his wife in the daily chores. He also added how he had most of the cooking duties.
“I mean, one, just being home, getting into a good routine there, spending time with the family, being out to help out as much as I could. I feel like the cooking game went to another level. I felt like I was decent before, but my wife and I used to cook a lot together, and having a little one that she kind of had to be on duty at all times with, that put a lot more of the cooking duties on me,” Rickie Fowler said.
He also mentioned that he made the most of his time away from the course by going to the gym, spending more time with his family, and was looking forward to shaking off the 'rust' ahead of the matches.
