Rory McIlroy confirmed for Canadian Open

Rory McIlroy was officially confirmed as a participant in the 2025 RBC Canadian Open on January 23. The Canadian Open's official account confirmed this news via a post on its official X (previously Twitter) account.

The 114th Canada's Open National Championship is all set to begin on June 4, 2025, in Caledon, Ontario. Players will be competing at the 18-hole-course at TPC Toronto in Osprey Valley. This stroke-play golf tournament will feature a total prize purse of $9.4 million. Among other PGA Tour pro golfers, McIlroy will aim for the top at this 2025 PGA Tour event.

On January 23, 2025, the official X account of the RBC Canadian Open posted, thereby confirming McIlroy for the tournament:

"Rory Returns! Our two-time #RBCCanadianOpen Champion, Rory McIlroy will be in the field from @TPC_Toronto!..."

McIlroy has won the RBC Canadian Open two times, in 2019 and 2022. In 2019, he won the tournament at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, finishing 22-under par. In 2022, McIlroy successfully retained his title at St. George’s Golf and Country Club. He finished his 2022 Canadian Open at 19-under par, with an overall score of 66-68-65-62.

At the 2023 Canadian Open, McIlroy tied for the ninth place at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Last year, he finished T4 at the event held in Hamilton. If he were to clinch the RBC Canadian Open title for the third time, he would earn his place alongside the other three-time champs Lee Trevino, Tommy Armour, and Sam Snead.
