Rory McIlroy recently made a trip to New Zealand and played at the Tara Iti Golf Club at Te Arai Links. Following his visit, he shared his experience at the golf club with fans, referring to it as a "trip of a lifetime."
McIlroy was last seen at the DP World Tour Championship last month, where he won for the third time. With this win, he also claimed the Race to Dubai standings for the sixth time in his career.
On Saturday, December 15, Rory McIlroy took to Instagram, praising the Tara Iti Golf Club.
"I've wanted to play Tara Iti golf club for many years and I finally had the chance to do it this week," he wrote. "It exceeded expectations and so did the beauty of New Zealand. It truly was the trip of a lifetime. Thanks to everyone at Tara Iti golf club and Te Arai Links for the wonderful hospitality. I can’t wait to come back again soon."
What's next for Rory McIlroy?
Rory McIlroy will next compete at the Showdown, the first-ever exhibition match between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour. The event will take place on Tuesday, December 17, at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas.
McIlroy will partner with Scottie Scheffler to represent the PGA Tour against LIV Golf’s Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau. The Showdown will be played over 18 holes, split into three different sections. The opening six holes will be played in a fourball format, the next six in a foursome format, and the final six holes in singles.
The Showdown will be broadcast on TNT Sports and played under the lights. For the first time in history, the winners will receive prize money in cryptocurrency.
2024 was a fruitful season for Rory McIlroy as he won four professional titles. He claimed victories at the Wells Fargo Championship and the Zurich Classic on the PGA Tour, as well as the Hero Desert Classic and the DP World Tour Championship on the European Tour.
The 34-year-old Northern Irishman recorded five more top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the US Open. He also had four top-three finishes on the European Tour, in addition to his two wins.
The four-time major champion will also appear at the TGL, the first-ever tech-infused league. He will be part of team Boston Common, along with Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, and Adam Scott.
