After round two, Rory McIlroy revealed he was thinking about where he would go on vacation next week during the second round of the 2024 Open Championship. The Northern Irish golfer seems to have chosen Portugal as his destination for vacation.

Earlier today, Rory McIlroy flew to Portugal in his private jet worth $30 million (per jetfinder.com). The Radaratlas tracked the plane and posted the update on their X (formerly Twitter) account. Rory flew from Glasgow to Faro, in the south of Portugal.

McIlroy said he was thinking about his vacation destination once he made eight on the fourth hole on day two.

"Once I made the eight on the fourth hole, that was it. You know 22 holes into the event and I am thinking about where I am going to go on vacation next week," Rory said in the post-round press conference.

Rory McIlroy misses the cut at the 2024 Open Championship

Rory McIlroy missed the cut in the 2024 Open Championship at the Royal Troon Golf Club. He had one of the poorest weeks of his career, as he carded +11 for the event and had no chance of making it to the weekend as the cut line came in at +6.

The four-time major championship winner said that after the first four holes, the event was pretty much meaningless for him.

"That was basically it you know. I mean I knew from then and I'd sort of resign myself to the fact that you know I wasn't going to shoot whatever it was you know 4 or 5 under from there on to make the cut. It was pretty meaningless 14 holes after that," Rory said.

After finishing T4 at the Scottish Open last week, fans expected Rory to have a strong finish this week at the Royal Troon Golf Club. He was the second-most favorite golfer after Scottish Scheffler in the odds, but couldn't justify it and missed the cut by a fair margin.

The former Open Championship winner carded +7 on day one with just one birdie, four bogeys, and two double bogeys on day one. Rory carded +4 on day two to remain +11 and failed to make it to the weekend.
