Rory McIlroy's TGL team, Boston Common Golf Club, released a BTS documentary titled unCommon: Building a Boston Sports Team on Thursday, December 26. A day later, the Northern Irishman shared a new sneak peek of the documentary on his social media handle.

McIlroy and 23 other golf superstars are set to compete in the first-ever TGL, which begins on January 7. The tech-infused league is co-founded by Tiger Woods and a venture led by sports executive Mike McCarley.

On Friday, December 27, Boston Common dropped the new teaser of the BTS documentary. In the teaser, Rory McIlroy narrated about how they came to the idea of a new league.

"Love the game of golf, and now I want it to grow, become more accessible, and help bring it into the future," he says in the video. "So I decided to go all in and join in launching a new team golf league called TGL. This is all the ups and the downs. Who knows where it could go?"

Boston Common GC is primarily owned by Fenway Sports Group, a well-known sports holding conglomerate. Keegan Bradley, Shane Lowry and Adam Scott are the other three names in McIlroy's team.

"Blessing in disguise" - Rory McIlroy reacts to the one year delay of TGL

Last week, Rory McIlroy addressed the media to discuss Boston Common's docuseries titled ‘unCOMMON: Building a Boston Sports Team’. During the press conference, he said that there were a few ups and downs in TGL's journey, but the one-year delay was a blessing in disguise for his team.

"It has been a blessing in disguise," he said as per NBC Sports. "Not only for the league, but for the Boston Common team itself because everyone knows Tyrrell Hatton was on Boston Common and he decided to go over to LIV.
"So, we had to try to recruit someone else in. And we’ve got an amazing replacement in Hideki Matsuyama. I think we were all really happy when Hideki joined us in the middle of this year."

TGL begins on January 7 with New York GC facing off against The Bay GC, but Boston Common won't play until the last week of the month. McIlroy's team will debut on January 27 against Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links GC.

All TGL matches will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+ in the US, while Sky Sports holds the broadcasting rights for the European region.
