Rory McIlroy recently snubbed Tiger Woods being the golfer with the best iron game in a video posted by TGL on December 14, 2024. The Northern Irish pro golfer and Woods' new golf league is scheduled to begin in January 2025.

In the video posted by TGL on their official X account, the interviewer went on to ask TGL golfers about the player with the best iron game. Apart from McIlroy, other golfers from the roster like Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, and Rickie Fowler were also there.

The reporter asked every one of them about their picks. Rory McIlroy quickly chose Collin Morikawa over other golfers including Tiger Woods. Notably, several other golfers took Wood's name when asked the same question. Posting the full version of the video on X, TGL wrote:

"Best iron game? Who've you got?"

In the video, the round started with Matt Fitzpatrick. When he was asked about his choice of the best iron game, he took Morikawa's name. After him, Clark, Fowler, Billie Horschel, and Xander Schauffele picked Tiger Woods as their choice.

Apart from McIlroy, several golfers including Cameron Young, Åberg, and Theegala also chose Morikawa as their choice. Shortly after that, even Collin Morikawa chose himself. He confidently looked into the camera and replied, "Myself" when the reporter asked for his opinion. For Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood has the best iron swing in TGL. Justin Thomas also chose Fleetwood:

"I like Tommy Fleetwood. I love the way he hits irons, he crunches it".

Two days ago, TGL posted a video with the former World No. 1 golfer on their YouTube channel. The opinion-based interview featured McIlroy facing a couple of questions:

"Worst trash talker in TGL?"
"Me", replied McIlroy with a smile.

The PGA Tour and Mike McCarley founded TGL on August 24, 2022, along with Woods and McIlroy. Although this venture was planned to be launched this year, an unfortunate delay rescheduled it to 2025.

Six teams comprising three players each will lock horns with one another in an 18-hole match in the TGL Venue at SoFi Center, Florida. It features a unique lineup of popular PGA golfers including Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy.

All of them will compete for the summit on January 7, 2025. A week ago, PGA Tour and TGL Golf posted the full schedule of their maiden season on Instagram:

"Exactly one month out from the debut of the @TGLGolf. Everything you need to prepare for the tech-infused primetime golf league beginning in January 2025."

Along with Tom Kim, Max Homa, and Kevin Kisner, Tiger Woods will play for the Jupiter Links Golf Club. On the other hand, Rory McIlroy will be a part of the Boston Common Golf Club with Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, and Adam Scott. It will be interesting to see the two teams duel it out in a head-to-head tee-off session.
