Kevin Kisner was named as a US Ryder Cup vice-captain for the 2025 competition set to tee off on September 26 at New York’s Bethpage Black. The four-time PGA Tour winner joins the likes of Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker in the role. The appointment of Kisner, a regular on NBC Golf’s announcer team, was confirmed by US Ryder Cup skipper Keegan Bradley.

The new team captain lauded Kisner while introducing him to the new role. Speaking about the new appointment, Bradley said that the former “cultivated relationships with everybody” making him a team player. The skipper dubbed his new vice-captain a “guy's guy” and said he kept the spirit in the dressing room high. He further lauded Kisner’s patriotism and said that the latter “bleeds red, white and blue.”

He added that the ‘nervous’ nature of the Ryder Cup called for players like Kisner, who elevated other players’ ‘personalities.’

Speaking of Kisner’s appointment ahead of the Sony Open in Hawaii, Keegan Bradley said, as quoted by ASAP Sports:

“So, Kevin (Kisner) brings - what I was explaining early in my career, he did the exact opposite. He cultivated all these relationships with everybody. They love Kevin. Kevin is a guy's guy, bleeds red, white and blue, is a proper locker room guy. Like he's not going to be patting you on the back every time. He's going to mess with you, joke around with you, but also keep it very light.
I really envy -- what I envy most about Kevin is his interactions with the players, his insight to certain players' personalities, his competitiveness, but really just what happens if Kevin walked into this room right now. He changes the vibe. When you're in a room with all these Ryder Cup players and everyone is nervous, you need guys like Kevin Kisner.”

For the unversed, Kevin Kisner won the 2019 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play and finished runner-up at the same event in both 2018 and 2022. The 40-year-old’s last win came at the 2021 Wyndham Championship, where he emerged victorious after a six-man playoff.

His two appearances in the Presidents Cup in 2017 and 2022, also adds to his impressive team golf resume. However, he is yet to make his Ryder Cup debut.

Kevin Kisner appointed as a Ryder Cup vice-captain

Kevin Kisner seemed delighted with his appointment as the third US Ryder Cup vice-captain. The veteran golfer, who served as a captain's assistant on the US team that secured a 10th consecutive Presidents Cup last September, said he “love match play” events. The ace golfer also dubbed Ryder Cup as “one of the greatest events in sports.”

Kevin Kisner said on Wednesday, as quoted by Reuters:

“I love match play and the Ryder Cup is one of the greatest events in sports. I cannot wait to be a part of it and look forward to doing everything I can to support Keegan, Webb, Brandt and our talented team in September.”

It is pertinent to note that the US side comes into the latest edition of the Ryder Cup on the back of a 16.5-11.5 loss in Rome. However, new captain Bradley, who replaces the outgoing Zach Johnson, seems confident in his side. The team will be at home this time as they take on European stars in New York.
