Scott Gutschewaski's son, Trevor, has been impressive with his performance at the US Junior Amateur. The junior golfer advanced to the finals of the USGA event after his victory over Xihuan Chang in the semifinal on Friday, July 26.

While Trevor excelled at the junior event, his father, Scott Gutschewaski, struggled at the 3M Open and failed to make the cut after two rounds. Scott teed off at the ongoing PGA Tour event in Minnesota and faced difficulties in the second round.

The cutline for the event was 2-under, but Scott stood at 3-over par after two rounds. He played the first round with a score of 74, followed by a round of 71, missing the cut.

In the first round of the 2024 3M Open, Scott Gutschewaski started his game on the first tee hole and added two bogeys on the third and fourth holes. He managed to bounce back with a birdie on the fifth. However, he struggled again on the front nine, carding two more bogeys on the seventh and ninth holes.

The American professional golfer made five bogeys, one double bogey, and four birdies to finish with a score of 3-over 74. In the second round, Scott shot two birdies, two bogeys, one eagle, and a double bogey for an even-par 71. He missed the cut, while his son Trevor will compete in the final of the 2024 US Junior Amateur on Saturday, July 27, against Tyler Watts.

"If I play well, I can hang with anybody"- Scott Gutschewski's son reflects confidence in his game as he enters the finale of US Junior Amateur

Trevor Gutschewaski is confident about his game as he heads into the final of the 2024 US Junior Amateur. Currently ranked 3570 in the WAGR, the young American golfer's remarkable performance in the ongoing USGA event has grabbed attention.

Gutschewaski will face Tyler Watts on Saturday, July 27, in the final, with Watts currently ranked 121 in the WAGR. Despite being much lower in the rankings, Gutschewaski has confidence in his game. He defeated Blades Brown in the quarterfinals and, while speaking of his game, Gutschewaski said (via PGA Tour):

“I don’t really feel like an underdog at all. I mean, I think my game is just as good as anybody else out here. If I play well, I can hang with anybody.”

Interestingly, Trevor's older brother, Luke, also plays golf, and they often play together. His father, Scott Gutschewaski, is a three-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Scott played in the 2009 US Open, a USGA event for professional golfers, but missed the cut. Now, Trevor has a perfect opportunity to bring home his first USGA event trophy.
