Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda have been nominated for two awards each at the 2024 ESPY Awards, the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly. Scheflfer, the World No. 1 is nominated for the "Best Athlete Men's Sports" and "Best Golfer".
In the Best Athlete Men's Sports category, Scheffler is in contention with NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, MLB multi-position star Shohei Ohtani and NHL center Connor McDavid. The last golfer to win the Best Athlete Men's Sports was Tiger Woods. Woods won the award five times in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2008.
Last year, the "Best Male Golfer" and "Best Female Golfer" awards were merged together into the "Best Golfer" category which was won by Scottie Scheffler. Both Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda are nominated for the Best Golfer category this year. They will be competing with Xander Schauffele and Lilia Vu.
World No. 3 Schauffele has been nominated for the first time. He is currently second on the FedExCup standings.
Nelly Korda has also been nominated for Best Athlete Women's Sports and Best Golfer. She'll be competing with Iowa basketballer Caitlin Clark, Tennis player Coco Gauff and Las Vegas Aces player A'ja Wilson.
The ESPN Awards will be telecasted live on Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The deadline for fan voting is 5 p.m. ET on July 11.
