Scottie Scheffler ended his competitive season by winning the 2024 Hero World Challenge, his ninth title of the year. Despite so many outstanding performances, Scheffler did not hesitate to highlight which he felt were the most significant.

After his victory in Albany, Scheffler held the usual winner's press conference. A reporter asked him to rate his best round of the season, and Scheffler responded by highlighting two moments in particular.

The world number one cited the back nine of the fourth round of the Olympic tournament as his "best nine-hole stretch" of the season. Here's part of what he had to say (via PGA Tour):

"I think one of the best nine hole stretches I had was probably the back nine of the Olympics. I think I shot 29 on the back nine, it was...at some point there I felt like I was out of the tournament, so, to come out and have a great back nine, shoot 29 to win gold was pretty special." Scheffler also spoke about the second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla. That was the day he shot a 66 after being arrested and later released from jail by Louisville police. Scheffler said he felt "a little weird" that day.

Another reporter asked Scottie Scheffler for his opinion on his best tournament of the year. Scheffler named the Olympics, The Players Championship, and the Masters Tournament as the three most emotional. He said:

"When I look back at this year, the Olympics is pretty special. I think winning the Players was extremely special, and the Masters, I mean, I would say those are the three that are a little bit different than the rest of the tournaments." [10:25 - 10:35]

Scottie Scheffler's season highlights at a glance

Scottie Scheffler began the final round of the Olympic tournament in Paris four shots behind Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele, who led after 54 holes. Schauffele was out of contention early but Rahm started the round on a high with five birdies on the front nine.

Scheffler played the front nine with three birdies and no bogeys to sit six shots behind Rahm. However, the Spaniard lost his way on the back nine with two birdies, four bogeys, and a double bogey.

Scheffler's performance was the opposite as he carded six birdies and no bogeys on the back nine to win the gold medal.

As for the PGA Championship, his second round included six birdies and one bogey. It was his second-best round of the tournament as he only shot a better 65 in the final round.

Scheffler also started the fourth round of the Players Championship tied for sixth on the leaderboard. Once again, the world number one played an outstanding round, going bogey-free with an eagle and six birdies to win by one stroke.

The Masters Tournament also saw an exceptional fourth round from Scheffler. The eventual champion began the final day as the leader, but only one stroke ahead of Collin Morikawa. After carding seven birdies and three bogeys, he won the title by four shots over Ludvig Aberg.
