Scottie Scheffler has revealed that he plays with a 7 handicap when playing with his friends at home. He added that although some of his friends receive two strokes per hole, he would still win more often.

Scheffler is in Atlanta, Georgia, this week for the Tour Championship, which tees off on Thursday, August 29, at East Lake Golf Club. He is currently leading the FedEx Cup standings and will start the tournament with a 10-stroke advantage.

During a press conference on Tuesday, August 27, ahead of the Tour Championship, Scottie Scheffler explained how he tries to level the playing field when playing with his friends at home.

"Most of it's just strokes," he said. "Just like the handicap system. I think that's one of the great parts about our game, is I can go out there with whoever it is and we can come up with some sort of a fair match just based on the handicap system."
"At home I'm typically playing to a plus 7. I used to be a plus 5. They moved me to a plus 7. So now we've got guys in the group that are getting like two strokes a hole. I typically still will win more often than not, I feel like, but it's just fun. It's just entertaining. If you're going out there with a 12, 13 handicap you don't know what the heck is going to happen. If we're playing Wolf there is a lot of volatility there and it's fun," he added.

Scottie Scheffler further revealed that on the weekends, he was also playing with a friend who receives 20 strokes per hole.

"I think we're up to 20 strokes now. And he takes them all. I think if we kept my handicap throughout the year -- it's tough. It's a tough thing to figure out," he concluded.

When will Scottie Scheffler tee off at the Tour Championship, Round 1?

Scottie Scheffler is paired with Xander Schauffele for the opening round of the Tour Championship. The duo will tee off on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. ET from the first hole. Scheffler is leading the FedEx Cup with 6,615 points, but Schauffele is very much within reach, trailing by just 1,193 points.

So far, the World No. 1 golfer has finished 4th and T33rd in the first two playoff events. Last year too, he was leading the in the FedEx Cup standings ahead of the Tour Championship with a lead but eventually finished sixth. Fans will be hoping that he avoids a repeat of last year's disappointment.
