This holiday season, TaylorMade has turned Scottie Scheffler into Santa Claus. The golfer just had one of the best seasons in recent golf history, and now he's part of a series of remade Christmas movie posters from the equipment brand.
Scheffler and other TaylorMade athletes got the parody treatment, showing up on the poster for movies like Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Elf, and so many more.
Scheffler starred as Santa Claus in the parody poster for The Santa Clause, aptly renamed The Scottie Clause. Rory McIlroy became Kevin McCallister for Home Alone, renamed Hole In One. Collin Morikawa and Charley Hull starred as the Wet Bandits.
Tiger Woods was on the cover of Christmas Vacation or Tiger's Vacation. Tommy Fleetwood was John MacLane in the Die Hard parody Drive Hard, though there's a debate over whether or not that's a Christmas movie.
Nelly Korda was Will Ferrell's Buddy the Elf from Elf, which was called Nelly. Finally, Brooke M. Henderson was the new star of A Christmas Story, this time referred to as A Canadian Story.
Golf isn't an active sport around the holidays, with the PNC Championship and Hero World Challenge being the only significant but unofficial tournaments that take place in the month of December. Nevertheless, TaylorMade didn't miss the chance to honor the season with some of their star athletes.
Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy dominate en route to Showdown win
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy were paired up to take on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in The Showdown. It was, unofficially, a PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf bout, the first of its kind.
McIlroy and Scheffler dominated. In three sessions, the two PGA stars won each and two of them rather handily. Via CNN, McIlroy said:
“We’re super happy to get the win. It’s a nice way to finish the year. Scottie and I got off to a pretty good start and then from there it was just about trying to keep the momentum.”
Scheffler added:
“I don’t know a whole lot about crypto, but this is good enough motivation to do some research."
DeChambeau conceded that the contest was more of a pillow fight for him and Koepka. Though this was a very small-field, exclusive, unofficial event, it was yet another victory for Scheffler.
The golfer won nine times in 2024, which doesn't include The Showdown. He won his second green jacket at the Masters Tournament, the Olympics (which doesn't count for the season total), the Players Championship, and four other Signature Events.
That includes the season-ending Tour Championship to wrap up the FedEx Cup. For good measure, Scottie Scheffler defended his crown at the Hero World Challenge, an unofficial Tour event.
