Scottie Scheffler won the gold medal last week in the men's golf event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The USA golfer secured the top spot in his first-ever Olympic Games and registered his seventh victory in 2024. Great Britain's Tommy Fleetwood finished second, while Japan's Hideki Matsuyama won the bronze medal.

Scottie was emotional after receiving the medal and couldn't hold back his tears as this victory meant a lot to the 28-year-old. His caddie, Tedd Scott, recently posted a reel on his Instagram where he captured some unseen footage.

The reel shows the moments before the medal ceremony, where the officials carried the flags of the USA, Great Britain, and Japan, while Scheffler and the other medalists walked up to the podium. It was a surreal moment with all the fans and Team USA members celebrating.

Scottie Scheffler shared the reel on his Instagram story and thanked his caddie, Ted Scott, for capturing the special moments.

"Shoutout to Ted Scott for capturing this moment," Scheffler wrote.

Scheffler had a slow start to the event as he remained four to five strokes behind the lead on the first three days. He started his final round four strokes behind the lead and had a decent front nine with only an outside chance for a win.

However, the two-time Masters winner picked up the pace on the final nine holes and turned things around. He carded six birdies on the back nine and remained blemish-free for the event, scoring -9 on the final day to equal the course record. He carded -19 for the event to win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Scottie Scheffler reveals the reason for getting emotional on the podium

Scottie Scheffler has had an exceptional golf season with six PGA Tour wins and an Olympic medal. He has been dominating the sport of golf over the last two years, but has never seemed as emotional as he was after winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

During the post-round press conference, Scheffler revealed he takes immense pride in being an American, and it was emotional seeing the flag get raised with the national anthem playing in the background.

"It was just very emotional being up there on stage there as the flag is being raised and sitting there singing the national anthem. Yes, that's definitely one I'll remember for a long time," Scottie said.

Scottie Scheffler will next compete in the FedExCup playoffs starting next week, with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind. He is the top-ranked golfer in FedExCup standings, and will be one of the favorites to win and conclude his season on a high.
