Austrian star Sepp Straka has overtaken Jon Rahm in the world rankings with his American Express 2025 win. He made a 17-spot surge in the latest OWGR update, breaking into the top 20.
Straka entered La Quinta as World No. 36 in the OWGR. Over the four days, he dominated the field by shooting 65, 64, 64, and 70 to finish at 25-under. He posted a two-shot win over Justin Thomas to claim his third PGA Tour victory.
In the latest OWGR update on Sunday, January 19, Sepp Straka is now ranked 19th in the world. On the other hand, Rahm slipped three spots to 34th after his poor outing at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. The Spaniard missed the cut at Emirates Golf Club after shooting 77 in the second round.
Straka has entered the top 20 for the first time since the Memorial Tournament 2024. He achieved his best ranking in January last year when he jumped to 17th after a T12 finish at the Sentry.
As for Rahm, his ranking has taken a hit since he joined LIV Golf before the 2024 season. At the time of joining the Saudi-backed circuit, he was ranked No. 3 in the OWGR. Now, he has slipped more than 30 spots despite winning the LIV Golf Championship last year.
Speaking of the other notable movement, Tyrrell Hatton has surged to 8th in the OWGR. He has now overtaken Bryson DeChambeau as the highest-ranked LIV golfer.
