Shane Lowry has decided to follow in Rory McIlroy's footsteps by forming his own management company. The new venture will take over the management of Lowry himself, who is leaving Horizon Sports after 15 years.
According to a report in the Irish Times, the parting of ways between Lowry and Horizon Sports was amicable. It was also revealed that Lowry's long-time representative, Brian Moran, will also be leaving Horizon to continue working with the 2019 Open champion.
In releasing the news, Shane Lowry had this to say:
"After a very successful 15 years together, I am moving on from Horizon Sports to set up my own management company. I would like to thank Conor and the entire team at Horizon Sports for the support they have given me over the years and wish them all the very best for the future."
Meanwhile, Horizon Sports founder Connor Ridge had this to say:
"I would like to thank Shane for placing his trust in me since the day he won the Irish Open as a young amateur over 15 years ago. It has been a privilege and an honour to play a small part in the huge success he has achieved since in becoming one of the best players in the world and one of Ireland’s most popular and successful sportspeople."
In addition to Lowry, Irish rugby players Johnny Sexton, Peter O'Mahony and Tadhg Beirne are also clients of Horizon Sports. Rory McIlroy also worked with the agency between 2011 and 2013.
The Northern Irishman launched his management company, Rory McIlroy Management Services, in 2013 and has worked with it to date.
