PGA Tour player Harry Higgs playfully called out Justin Thomas while discussing his skin cancer recovery on the "No Laying Up" podcast. He shared that Thomas reached out to him after he discussed cancer on "The Smylie Show".
Thomas had skin cancer in 2019. It was caught in its early stages and skin was removed from his left leg for treatment. Talking about his conversation with Thomas, Higgs jokingly complained about "forgotten sunscreen".
"It was not a threat to my health but it had to be cut off the side of my head. I do have a little scar here. Especially as golfers, I know Justin Thomas reached out shortly thereafter, I think I did Smiley Show and he might have seen it, that was when I had the the gash out of the side of my head and they put the bandage on and everything. I looked silly.
But he reached out, said basically the same thing, 'No one talks about this, we're in the sun all the time, I had some cut out of my leg.' Justin started a sunscreen company and he was gonna send me some sunscreen. And I don't know whether it got lost in the mail or he might have forgotten," Harry Higgs said. [51:34]
In a November 2023 Instagram post, Thomas announced he would become a father. He also started his own sunscreen company, WearSPF, last year.
"He's about to be a new dad," Harry Higgs added. "So he's probably got other things on his mind. I'm more than capable of getting the sunscreen that I need on my own. But even stuff like that, I just went to the eye doctor yesterday, trying to figure all that out. There's just, take care of yourself."
Higgs also discussed his year on the Korn Ferry Tour, mental health, and Grayson Murray's death. The 32-year-old has advanced to the PGA Tour after finishing in the top 30 in the Korn Ferry Tour points list.
Harry Higgs talks about his Europe trip in the middle of the 2024 season
On a recent episode of the "No Laying Up" podcast, host Chris Solomon asked about the Europe trip Harry Higgs took in the middle of the 2024 golf season. Higgs shared that it was his first experience visiting Europe. He had visited South America and played a tournament in Japan, the furthest he had ever traveled.
"It's very different over there, we did kind of like three-four days everywhere, we did London, we were able to make it to Wimbledon which was sick and then we did two different Greek Islands, Santorini and Paros, and then we finished in kind of the Tuscany region of Italy. Man, it was awesome, it was so cool to experience," Harry Higgs said. [54:50]
"The coolest part was being able to do it in the middle of a season because I mean from the jump from January to usually November I'm busy."
Higgs had shared pictures from the trip on his social media.
Higgs further shared that the trip was more special as a Honeymoon. He got engaged to Kailee Kuehn in May 2023 and married her in May 2024.
