Stacy Lewis reveals ex-President Barack Obama’s message for the Solheim Cup US Team

Ex-President Barack Obama met the US Solheim Cup Team for dinner ahead of the 2024 tournament. The 19th edition of the tournament will be played from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 16 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.

Team USA captain Stacy Lewis talked to NBC's Golf Today about Obama's visit. She shared that the team visited the Pentagon where they met several high-ranking military officials before the dinner with him.

"Well, they (US team members) were all very surprised. We kept it pretty hushed. Not many people knew he was coming. And so I think they were all very surprised. It was a cool ending to a great day."

The 39-year-old said the team received inspiring messages from generals about representing the country. She said it was "a really impactful day" before the tournament's "craziness" began. She was further asked if Obama had any words for the team. The 13-time LPGA Tour winner said:

"He did. He did. We talked a little bit about the golf course because he plays here all the time. So he talked to us a little bit about the golf course and just, again, kind of what it means to represent your country."

"And what's funny, though, as soon as he walked in, he picked out Allisen Corpuz, you know, that Hawaii connection. And so, he had done his homework," she added.

Corpuz was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1998. Lewis further said they hope to see the former President later this week.
