Shooter McGavin is a name famous among those who watched the 1996 comedy film, Happy Gilmore. Starring Adam Sandler, McGavin, played by Christopher MacDonald, was an entitled golfer in the movie who is also the lead antagonist, and has an iconic rivalry with Happy Gilmore aka Sandler.

During an appearance on The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima, MacDonald first confirmed the news of the second installment of Happy Gilmore. Once he did that, MacDonald aka Shooter MacGavin detailed on his meeting with Adam Sandler in which he told MacDonald about the sequel of the movie.

MacDonald said:

“I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says, ‘McDonald, you’re going to love this… How about that?’ And he goes and shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.”

However, Gilmore soon discovers a passion for golf after which he joins the PGA Tour. After winning a tournament on this tour, he finds himself in a rivalry with Shooter McGavin.

Happy Gilmore was directed by Dennis Dugan. Apart from Adam Sandler and Christopher MacDonald, it featured Julie Bowen and Carl Weathers, iconic for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise. Made on a budget of $12 million, Happy Gilmore went on to earn $41.2 million at the box office, making it a huge success.
