In a reel shared by Instagram handle @visitbradentongulfislands, the No. 1 ranked women's golfer in the world, Nelly Korda shared that her hometown Bradenton was impacted by hurricanes late last year. Korda also urged people to visit her hometown as things are back to normal following the devastation caused by hurricane Milton.
“Recently my hometown Bradenton, Florida was affected by a couple of hurricanes.”
She then added,
“…but I am super excited to say that through the resilience of people in Bradenton, our beautiful beaches and restaurants are now open to the visitors. So, go out, enjoy and most importantly have fun.”
In October 2024, Florida’s Gulf Coast was hit by hurricane Milton and it spread havoc across the region. Hurricane Milton, a category 3 storm made landfall on the night of October 9 near Siesta Key, Florida. As per various news outlets, more than 20 people lost their lives due to this natural disaster.
Ever since the disaster, tourism has been limping back to normalcy in the region. Being a tourist attraction, as Korda mentioned in her reel, her hometown Bradenton also suffered economically. But with each other's cooperation, the people of Bradenton have now made it a place where visitors can come in and enjoy to their fullest.
Nelly Korda’s appeal to the world certainly can help more and more people come to that place and get Bradenton's tourism up and running again.
