Swiss golfer Albane Valenzuela was surprised by her friend Katie Ledecky during the women’s golf event at the Olympics on Friday. Valenzuela had been competing in the ongoing event and was having a decent performance.
During the third round of the tournament, Katie Ledecky went to watch her friend play at Le Golf National. The LPGA Tour shared several pictures on its Instagram handle where the 9-time Olympic gold medalist was seen cheering for her friend. The photos were captioned:
"Olympics legend Katie Ledecky at Le Golf National to support her friend Albane Valenzuela at #Paris2024!"
Katie Ledecky and Albane Valenzuela have been friends since they first met in 2016. The swimming legend told the media that she came to the golf course to meet Valenzuela but also had the chance to meet Nelly Korda, who is competing at the Paris Olympics. Ledecky said (via NBC Olympics):
"She is the main reason I came out, but I also met Nelly Korda on the way in today and I know she came to the swimming last week and cheered me on. I have some Czech background as well (Korda’s parents are Czech); my grandfather is Czech.”
The women’s golf event at the Paris Olympics began on August 7 and is currently underway, with the third round in progress.
Following the second round of the Paris Olympics golf event, Morgane Metraux stunned the golf community by taking the lead. She shot a 66 in the second round to secure her position at the top. Meanwhile, Albane Valenzuela struggled with her game in the first two rounds but had a decent start in the third.

Albane Valenzuela began her 2024 women's golf event at the Paris Olympics campaign with a round of 72. She parred the first eight holes of the opening round before adding a birdie on the ninth.
She followed this with another birdie on the 10th but encountered difficulties on the 12th and 13th holes, making a bogey on the 12th and a double bogey on the 13th. Valenzuela then managed to recover slightly with a birdie on the 14th, finishing the opening round with a score of 72.
In the second round, Valenzuela started strong with a birdie on the third hole but followed it with a bogey on the next. She carded three bogeys and a birdie on the back nine, ending the round with a 74.
In her third round, the Swiss golfer began with a bogey and a birdie on the front nine. She has yet to complete the back nine. At the time of writing, Albane Valenzuela is tied for 24th place at the Paris Olympics.
Albane Valenzuela has been playing professional golf since 2019. She competes on the LPGA Tour but is still searching for her first win.
