TaylorMade is making a major acquisition. Several years ago, Scottie Scheffler's putting was a glaring weak spot in his game. Now, it's a massive strength and a big reason he had such a successful 2024 with eight wins, including the Tour Championship and Olympics.

His work with Logan Olson, a renowned putter-maker, to find the right putter for him at the end of 2023 paid dividends, so the golf company is acquiring Olson as one of its brands.

Olson was making putters for some of the brand's biggest stars, including Scheffler, Nelly Korda, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood who all began testing and using putters made by Olson. This began in late 2023 and ran into 2024.

Scheffler first used an Olson putter at the 2023 Hero World Challenge, a tournament he won before starting his historic 2024 campaign with the same putter. Scheffler is now about to defend his title in Albany this weekend.

Many of Olson's putters are custom designs made specifically for certain customers. But he has also put out a few limited-release runs, including a few “Craft Batch” runs, which is getting its third release later this week and will be the first under the official TaylorMade umbrella.

TaylorMade to provide Daniel Olson with tons of resources

Thanks to his new partnership with TaylorMade, Logan Olson will continue designing his own products. He will be able to tap into the resources the golf apparel and gear brand has, which are much more vast than anything he's had access to before.

The putter-maker will also make a “Tour matrix” of blade and mid-mallet putter heads. These will be provided to TaylorMade Tour athletes like Scottie Scheffler. They will test and use the items to give feedback on how well they play in events so that Olson can make more for future Craft Batch releases, all under TaylorMade's widening umbrella.

The company's Vice President of Product Creation Brian Bazzel said via Golf.com:

“It’s not every day you stumble upon someone like Logan. His ability to merge creativity with such a technical process is nothing short of remarkable. Whether you’re a professional on Tour, someone who plays the game for the sheer love of it, or even a collector with a keen eye for finely crafted putters, Logan’s creations embody a level of craftsmanship that resonates with golfers from all abilities.”

Olson himself said:

“I’ve always appreciated that TaylorMade is a brand that isn’t afraid to take risks and try something different. I feel a resemblance to that in my own work and thoughts on approaching new projects."

He added that getting feedback from the "best players in the world" will push his overall design skill to a whole new level.
