A section of golf fans on social media sarcastically mocked Jon Rahm's first win in the LIV Golf League. The Spanish golfer finally clinched a victory at the LIV Golf UK event on Sunday, July 28. It was his first victory since winning the 2023 Masters.

Rahm moved to LIV Golf in late 2023. During the third season, he competed in ten events before last week's tournament and achieved top-10 finishes in all of them except the Houston event, from which he withdrew. However, he struggled to secure a win until the LIV Golf UK event.

The former World No. 1 registered a one-stroke victory over Joaquin Niemann, Cameron Smith, and Tyrrell Hatton. It was an emotional moment for Rahm as he was spotted with tears in his eyes.

LIV Golf League shared a video of Jon Rahm following his win on its X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:

"An emotional @JonRahmOfficial claims his first title since his 2023 Masters win."

However, fans soon jumped into the comments section to take a jibe at the Spaniard. People were critical of Rahm's emotional reaction to winning a LIV Golf event.

"Tears for a LIV win. How the mighty have fallen," a fan wrote.

One fan called it a display of "fake tears."

"Lovely fake tears there from Rahmbo," a fan jotted.

Meanwhile, another fan suggested that Rahm was crying because he didn't believe he could win on LIV.

"He crying because he can’t believe he went to LIV," another fan commented.
"Congrats. You beat 5 really good players," another fan wrote.

"To get over the hump feels great incredible" - Jon Rahm on winning his first LIV Golf event

Jon Rahm was emotional while speaking about his first victory in LIV Golf. During the press conference, he stated that his wife, Kelley Cahill, had told him their son Kepa wanted to see Rahm bring home a trophy. He was highly elated to finally win the trophy.

"To get this one done -- she did tell me, our son Kepa said to bring a trophy home in this stretch of golf, and I started to believe it was going to happen at one point today. Maybe not in the last 20 minutes. But at least I can look at them and say I'm bringing one home for them," Rahm said (via ASAP Sports).
"Finally got one done. You never want to get those feelings to go on for too long, and to get over the hump feels great, incredible. It's been a fantastic week and a fantastic year, and just relieved that it happened," he added.

Jon Rahm will head to the Paris Olympics next week. Competing in the Olympics has always been his dream, and he will finally represent his country alongside fellow LIV golfer David Puig. Rahm is looking forward to winning a gold medal for his country.

"I'm really looking forward to sharing the week with David. It's going to be fantastic, and hopefully one of us can leave with the gold," he said (via ASAP Sports).

Notably, the men's golf event will start with its first round on (Thursday) August 1 and will take place in a stroke play format for four days, concluding with the final round on August 4.
