Ludvig Aberg, who is currently a senior at Texas Tech University, was announced Monday as the winner of the 2023 Ben Hogan Award to the top collegiate golfer in the United States. Aberg thus repeated his 2022 award, tying with current World No. 2 Jon Rahm as the only player to have received the honor twice.

The Ben Hogan Award has been presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America since 1990, which chooses from among three final candidates. Ludvig Aberg was joined on the ballot by Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford University and Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt University.

As is traditional, the award was announced from the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, home of this ceremony for more than 20 years. This is the same facility that, starting Thursday, will host the PGA Tour's Charles Schwab Challenge.

In its 30-plus years history, the Ben Hogan Award has been presented to players who have gone on to have outstanding performances in golf, both professionally and at the amateur level.

Among the stars who have been deserving of this recognition, in addition to the aforementioned Jon Rahm, are the winner of eight PGA Tour tournaments and eighth on the world list, Patrick Cantlay, and the recently placed T2 in the 2023 PGA Championship, Viktor Hovland.
