The TGL will use paid seat fillers for its inaugural season. A representative for the league, led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, confirmed this Friday, January 3, that the practice will be implemented.

Adam Freifeld, TGL broadcast communications spokesman, confirmed to local media outlet WPTV in West Palm Beach that the league will take this step for the same reasons some award shows do.

According to the WPTV report, Freifeld said this via text message:

"We have a small, intimate venue and like an awards show we use seat fillers to, you know, fill seats."

WPTV and Golf Digest reported on an Instagram post from Penguin Entertainment calling for "enthusiastic golf spectators" for "immediate hiring." The post also alluded to several available dates between January and March 2025.

Payments to be received by seat fillers were not disclosed. The aforementioned Instagram post is unavailable at the time of this writing. Penguin Entertainment is an Orlando, Florida-based company hired by TGL to recruit talent.

According to the WPTV report, the seat-fillers will also take part in trials to fine-tune television broadcast procedures.

TGL will tee off on January 7 with the inaugural match between New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club. Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Rickie Fowler will be on the New York team, while Shane Lowry, Wyndham Clark, and Ludvig Aberg will be playing for The Bay.
