The 2025 edition of the much-awaited Genesis Invitational is set to take place in February. However, five weeks before tee-off, there is a cloud of doubt over whether the tournament can be hosted at the Riviera Country Club as a deadly wildfire has caused destruction in Pacific Palisades, where the club is located.

The only official update on this matter recently came in from the Genesis Invitational. On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), popular golf page NUCLR Golf posted a statement from the Genesis Invitational, which mentioned that they are continuing to monitor the situation in their community.

The statement read:

"We are continuing to monitor the devastating fires in our community. Our immediate concern is the health and welfare of those in the affected areas. We are grateful to the first responders who have tirelessly supported and protected our community."

Earlier, the PGA Tour also released a statement about the upcoming Genesis Invitational. While the Tour mentioned no harm was done to the Riviera Country Club, their immediate concern is the health and welfare of the people affected by the wildfires.

The statement from the PGA Tour read:

“The PGA Tour is monitoring the devastating fires in Los Angeles County. At this point, it is premature to discuss the potential impact on the Genesis Invitational. Although the Riviera Country Club has not been directly affected by the fires, our immediate concern is the health and welfare of those in the affected communities, including all our members who have ties to Southern California.”

As of now, the PGA Tour and Genesis Invitational officials haven't ruled out competition at the Riveria Golf Club. This indicates that if the wildfire situation is under control, everyone is safe, and the club remains unharmed, the tournament could begin as scheduled on February 13.
