Fans' patience is wearing thin as the ongoing delay in the deal between the PGA Tour and PIF drags on, following a new update from Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. The PGA Tour announced its merger with LIV Golf's financial backbone, PIF, in June of last year, but the deal has been repeatedly postponed, with no finalization in sight.
This week, PGA Tour players are gearing up to compete at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and ahead of the event, Jay Monahan held a press conference where he discussed the deal between the PGA Tour and PIF. He revealed that the discussions have been "complicated" and stated that they would continue to "meet and move forward."
However, the Commissioner assured that the conversations between both parties are "in a good place."
Nuclr Golf shared Jay Monahan's comments on the PGA Tour-PIF update on its X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:
"PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan spoke ahead of the FedEx St. Jude Championship & it appears a deal between the TOUR and PIF is not imminent: “They’re very complicated discussions…. There’s a lot of elements to them. When you have the level of interaction, we’re continuing to meet and move forward and discuss and debate, you can’t be anything but hopeful…. As it relates to times and timeframes and where we are, I’ll just say we’re in a good place with the conversations. That’s the most important thing.”
However, fans have expressed frustration over the constant delays and the lack of solutions.
"Just sort it out already," a fan wrote.
Meanwhile, some fans criticized Jay Monahan, accusing him of " ruining" golf.
"The man that ruined golf," another fan commented.
"Nothing will happen until he is gone.. to bad the players are putting their trust in this guy...," a fan wrote.
Yet one more fan criticized the delay in the deal and wrote:
"Find a solution. Problem is they don’t want one. Ego, money and legacy. Sounds like politicians."
